False teaching was trying to diminish the deity and authority of Jesus, attempting to convince the church at Colossae that Christ wasn’t sufficient to conquer sin and death. This letter, from an imprisoned Paul, gives us the most concentrated teaching on the theology of Christ and helps ground and root us in the fact that Jesus is sufficient in all things and at all times.
